While I was in my early 30’s I was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. Since then, I’ve been using an insulin pump as prescribed by the doctor. After about ten years of using it, I started to notice the detrimental effects.

I started having pain in all my joints. felt tried all the time, and could not sleep well. I used to get frequent scissorlocks and my husband would have to wake me up but I’d be nearly unconscious. When he checked my glucose level, it’d be skyrocketing dangerously in the 40’s.

After much hesitation and several cancelled appointments later, I finally mustered up the courage to pay Dr. Cho a visit at my friend’s continuous cajoling. During the consultation, i could tell that Dr. Cho definitely knew what she was talking about. She was very knowledgeable and warm.

She thought it somewhat odd that I’d be diagnosed with Type I Diabetes since it’s an autoimmune disease so suddenly in my 30’s. diabetes that develops later in life is usually considered type Ⅱ. She asked me a series of questions and putting two and two together, we both realized what a stressful situation I had been in at the time of my diagnosis. Dr. Cho informed me that high levels of stress could increase glucose in the bloodstream which is probably what had happened at that time. And instead of dealing with my stress and finding other alternatives, I had pumped all this exogenic insulin into my into my body, throwing it out of balance. I decide to put my trust in Dr. Cho and followed he recommended treatment plan. I’ve been going in for acupuncture sessions weekly and taking herbs as well.

One month ago, my glucose level was at 9.6. Today, it is at 8.9 and I’ve been using only half the dosage of my insulin pump. Dr. Cho tells me that we could eventually stop using the pump altogether! Overall, I feel much more energetic and the pain that I used to have all over my body has drastically diminished. I definitely feel hopeful. Thank you Dr. Cho!
